THE             END

By now, we’ve ALL heard the “end of the world” is coming!  The
Mayan “long count” calendar ends on December 21st of this year.
You might even have seen a movie or two about the end of life on this
earth as we know it.

Okay boys and girls!  Let’s think a moment!  Christmas is coming…
what are you going to give each other?  Jewelry? A new TV? Maybe
a new car?
NEWS FLASH!  You can do that any Christmas (or just do it AGAIN)!
Pop Quiz!  What can you give each other this Christmas that has not been
available for millennia?  What truly unique experience remains to us?
Join us for the end of an era…..  “the end of life, on earth, as we know it”(?)….

I don’t think so!  The Maya understood “endings” only in the context of “new beginnings”.

Optimist that I am, I’ll even book your returns after on or after 22 December.  Of course, to be
fair, if I’m wrong, you’ll wind up paying double for your last trip!

Guess what?  You still have time to visit the sacred places of the Maya, and maybe even
watch a giant feathered serpent (Kulkulcan) slither down a pyramid one last time!

I'd say for the "end of time", we’ll want some very special treatment!

Mr. Morales, has been heard to say things like:

The fact that the archaeologists in the Yucatan make new discoveries almost every month
means my work is always interesting and never finished.  Forget about dusty museums and
libraries! What our visitors see is no exhibition.  It’s the real, cutting edge science in the field,
and often at sites we’ve never explored before.  The work we do here has implications for
scientists all over the world.
He’s with one of three great tour operators I use in Mexico for those interested in the
Mundo Maya.  Archaeologist as guides, or who plan guided tours?  There is no better way
to see, nor, any better place, to await the end of the Maya calendar….  And the beginning
of a new era!

Whatever you comfort or level of interest, I can get you there for  the 21st.   I can
accommodate not only the more serious Mayanist who find Ceiba trees (Yaxche?) and
count levels as well as  we  who prefer five star resorts with a lot of pampering as well as
the guided tours.

A NEW BEGINNING
